The Gulu City Council has undertaken the relocation of the remains of two individuals who were buried 30 years ago inside Wilobo Market, located on Pece Commercial Road in the Laroo-Pece City Division.

The decision to move the graves was made to facilitate development and modernization efforts in the area. The market, which serves as a bustling commercial hub, required the relocation to make way for planned improvements and expansions.

City council officials, working in collaboration with community leaders and local residents, carefully exhumed the remains and ensured they were respectfully handled. The relocation process involved traditional rituals and ceremonies to honor the deceased and maintain cultural sensitivity.

The remains were transferred to a new burial site, chosen after consultations with the families of the deceased and community elders. This new site ensures that the remains are given a dignified resting place away from the commercial activities of the market.

The Gulu City Council emphasized the importance of balancing development with respect for cultural practices and the memories of those who have passed. The relocation is part of a broader initiative to improve infrastructure and services within the city, aiming to enhance the living and working conditions for residents and business owners alike.
