Bobi Wine, the leader of Uganda’s largest opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), has concluded a significant series of diaspora engagements with a major convention in Toronto. The event, held on Sunday, was marked by a strong turnout and enthusiastic participation from the Ugandan community abroad.
Bobi Wine expressed his pleasure at the level of passion demonstrated by attendees. He acknowledged and thanked them for their ongoing efforts and contributions over the years. In his speech, he encouraged the diaspora to continue their advocacy for justice and accountability, emphasizing the importance of using various tools such as protests and advocacy to advance their cause.
The convention also served as an opportunity to honor and remember the victims of state repression. Bobi Wine urged all Ugandans, both at home and abroad, to play their part in the struggle for justice, stressing that every small effort contributes to the larger goal.
He expressed his gratitude to the National Unity Platform’s diaspora leaders for their role in mobilizing, organizing, and advocating for the party’s objectives. Bobi Wine pointed out the critical role of the diaspora in supporting the party’s mission and driving its agenda forward.
