Lira,Uganda – In line with her manifesto and numerous accomplishments, and with a commitment to giving back to her constituents, the Honorable Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, has pleasantly surprised thousands of her voters in Lira City by donating over 300 million shillings for poverty eradication among various groups, totaling over 600.
Dr. Aceng launched the distribution of funds for poverty eradication during a meeting with hundreds of her voters in Adekokwok on Saturday. She allocated 500,000 shillings to each group while launching the distribution of funds in Adek Okwok, Bar Apwo, among other areas.
Among the groups that received funding from Dr. Jane on Saturday, 7th October 2023, were Boroboro East Youth Unisex Saloon Association, Angwetangwet Bedi-Lwak Village Saving and Loan Association, Jokon Meda-Pige Women Entrepreneurship Association, Note Teko Saving and Loan Association in Alia, Nyeko Pe Dongi Boro Boro East, Oryemcan Produce Buying and Selling Association, among others.
She assured groups that were not present that she would hold their funds until they could collect them personally.
Dr. Aceng encouraged group members to use the funds for meaningful projects, saying, “Let’s work together to develop Lira City and alleviate poverty.”
A group of women singing a Luo song called “Piny Oruu Oko, Aceng Ocero” commended Hon. Aceng Jane for her considerate support to various groups in Lira City, acknowledging that it was time for her achievements as an MP to shine in Lira City.
In her closing remarks from Adekokwok in Lira City, Minister Aceng called for unity among all voters in Lira City to reduce and eradicate poverty.
Owera Alex, the campaign manager for Hon. Minister Aceng, expressed his happiness about the fulfillment of ministerial pledges and stated that Hon. Aceng had done even more in Dokolo and Agwata Town Council in Dokolo District.
Minister Jane Aceng stated, “Let’s thank President General Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for bringing PDM and other projects, and this initiative for over 600 groups is my own fulfillment of my manifesto to the people of Lira City.” She added that as it is a city, no one should be left behind.
