Key Contributions to the Health Sector in Mbarara City
Much of Hon. Atukwasa’s work in the health sector has been funded through her personal contributions, along with support she lobbied from the Ministry of Health and well-wishers. Her efforts include the following:
1. Free Eye Medical Camp
She organized a free eye medical camp for patients with visual impairments. Many city residents were diagnosed and treated. This initiative cost her UGX 10 million.
2. Comprehensive Medical Camps
Hon. Atukwasa organized free medical camps at Kyarwabuganda Health Centre, Kakiika, and Kakooba Health Centre. These were held in partnership with the Mbarara Rotary Club and City Medical Chambers. Services offered included testing for diabetes, hypertension, HIV, and cancer screening. The total cost of these camps was UGX 12 million.
3. Wheelchair Donations
She donated 200 wheelchairs to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Mbarara City, significantly improving accessibility and mobility for beneficiaries.
4. Hospital Beds Distribution
She successfully lobbied the Ministry of Health for hospital beds, which were distributed to several health facilities:

5. Medical Record Books
Hon. Atukwasa donated 500 patient treatment record books to three health centers—Kichwamba, Kakooba, and Kitagata—at a personal cost of UGX 2 million.
6. Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Project
She launched a health promotion and disease prevention project in Kishasha, Rwakishakizi, Bunutsya, and Kichwamba wards. The project, currently in its early stages, was lobbied through City Medical Chambers and supported by USAID.
Additionally, she contributed UGX 1.5 million to Kakiika Health Centre toward the procurement of a medical scan.
