After a three-day break from the campaign trail, NRM Presidential Candidate and incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni resumed his nationwide campaign with renewed energy on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
President Museveni held two major rallies — first in Oyam District in Northern Uganda and later in Pakwach District, located in the West Nile sub-region. Both venues witnessed massive crowds, with supporters and local leaders assembling as early as 7:00 a.m. to welcome the NRM flag bearer.
The events featured performances from popular Ugandan artists including Catherine Kusasira, Lil Pazo, and Eddy Kenzo, who kept the crowds entertained before the President’s address.
Community Concerns Raised
During the Pakwach rally held at Omach Primary School grounds, the NRM District Chairperson, Ronald Onencan Ojinda, presented a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to President Museveni, outlining key issues affecting the district.
Among the concerns were fishing community grievances, land disputes around Murchison Falls National Park, the upgrade of Pakwach Health Centre III to hospital status, and the need for improved road infrastructure.
Museveni Highlights Peace and Progress
Addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters, President Museveni underscored the peace and stability ushered in by the NRM government, saying it has laid a solid foundation for development across Uganda.
“NRM has been involved in Uganda’s politics for over 65 years. The peace we brought has allowed Uganda to host refugees and foster development. We’ve expanded electricity coverage, built schools and health centers, and improved communication networks,”
– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
He emphasized that continued peace and economic growth remain central pillars of the NRM’s 2026–2031 manifesto.
Campaign Trail Continues After Independence Celebrations
President Museveni is expected to take another short break as the nation celebrates the 63rd Independence Anniversary on 9th October 2025 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
He will resume the campaign trail on Saturday, 11th October 2025, with rallies scheduled in Nebbi and Zombo districts.
Subsequent engagements include rallies in Obongi, Madi-Okollo, Yumbe, Koboko, Terego, Maracha, Moyo, and Arua, winding down the week with a final rally in Arua City.
Meanwhile, other presidential candidates — Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Gregory Mugisha Muntu, James Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga, Frank Bulira, Robert Kasibante, and Joseph Mabirizi — continue to hold campaign meetings across the country.
The 2026 general elections are expected to take place after campaigns officially close on 12th January 2026.
