Mbale City , Uganda – The Deputy Chief Justice of Uganda, His Lordship Dr. Flavian Zeija, has urged cultural institutions to adopt Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms—such as mediation—instead of rushing to court whenever internal conflicts arise.
Justice Zeija made the remarks while officially opening a Court of Appeal session in Mbale City. The Court of Appeal has established regional circuit sessions in several parts of the country, beginning with Bugisu, Gulu, and Mbarara, as part of efforts to bring justice closer to the people.
Speaking at the same event, Mr. Steven Masiga, spokesperson of the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, welcomed the Deputy Chief Justice’s guidance.
“I salute His Lordship the Hon. Deputy Chief Justice for this wise counsel. I will amplify this message through various Bukuka media platforms and update Umukuka III and our clan chairpersons on this valuable guidance,” Mr. Masiga said during the session.
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Mbale City RCC Hon. George Wopuwa, Elgon Region RPC, Elgon CID, the Bukuka Town Clerk, OC Prisons Mbale, and the RPC for Bukedi Region, among others.
