By Our Reporter | Mbale City — His Highness the Jude Mike Mudoma has pledged to lobby the government to construct a modern stadium in Bugisu, as part of efforts to promote sports development in the region.
The Umukuka made the commitment earlier this week while officiating at a national sports tournament for Muslim schools held in Bugisu.
According to Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution, the cultural leader attended the event as Chief Guest following an invitation from the Board of Governors of Nkoma Secondary School and the Uganda Muslim Education Association.
The Umukuka arrived at Nkoma Secondary School at around 2:00 pm, accompanied by Steven Masiga and the Minister for Culture, Moses Kutoi. The delegation was received by the school’s headteacher, Hajji Kawanguzi, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Prof Sirajji Nabalegwa, and other administrators.
After inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects at the school, the Umukuka proceeded to Mbale City Stadium, where he officially opened the tournament. The competition brought together over twenty Muslim schools from across the country.
In his remarks, the Umukuka commended the leadership of Nkoma SSS for promoting Lumasaba by including it in the school curriculum. He also appreciated the school administration for extending scholarships to members of the Bamasaaba Cultural Institution.
He emphasized the importance of sports in uniting young people and nurturing talent, noting that improved infrastructure would play a key role in advancing the sector. It was in this context that he pledged to engage the government on the construction of a modern stadium in the Bugisu sub-region..
