In a special session held on Wednesday, Jinja City Council paid tribute to the late former minister, Henry Kyemba. The session took place in the city council’s main hall and commenced at 10:50 a.m., with Speaker Bernard Mbayo presiding. Henry Kyemba had previously served as a councilor in the former Jinja Municipality.

During the session, councilors, led by Jinja City Mayor Alton Kasolo, expressed their admiration for Kyemba, describing him as a great statesman. He was also remembered for his role as a former member of parliament representing Jinja West constituency. Kyemba’s successors, retired Col. Tony Otto and Harry Kasigwa, spoke fondly of him during the session. Additionally, the two former mayors, Joel Kafuko and David Wakudumira, were in attendance.

Henry Kyemba passed away last Wednesday, and he had served in various governments, including those of Idi Amin, Dr. Apollo Obote, and the current ruling National Resistance Movement, where he held the position of minister for animal husbandry. Notably, Kyemba gained prominence for exposing atrocities within the Amin government by authoring a book titled “The State of Blood.”

The tribute session was a solemn occasion, with the late minister’s widow, Janet Kyemba, and other family members present to honor his memory.
