The Permanent Secretary of the Judiciary, Dr. Pius Bigirimana, has provided insight into the purpose of his recent book, which delves into the mysteries of human sexuality and its connection to African traditions.
Dr. Bigirimana shared this explanation during the launch of his new book, titled “A Small Book of Big Quotes,” at the High Court in Kampala on October 2, 2023. This book comprises quotes from his six previous works and is a collection of his thoughts, insights, and experiences.
He emphasized that the central message of the book is to view sex as a comprehensive form of intimacy that encompasses emotional, spiritual, physical, and bonding aspects. Dr. Bigirimana stated that he wrote the book not as a scholar but as a parent, intending it to benefit both married individuals and those aspiring to marry by promoting respect for the institution of marriage.
Despite its recent launch, Dr. Bigirimana’s book on sexuality has already had a positive impact on marriages, with individuals reporting miraculous outcomes. He reflected on his journey as an author, describing it as one of exploration, discovery, and a relentless pursuit of truth.
Dr. Bigirimana has authored six previous books, each representing a chapter in his life, explaining his ideas and expressing his commitment to making a positive impact on the world. These books cover various topics, including corruption, African traditions, resilience in post-conflict regions, and more.
Regarding his seventh book, “A Small Book of Big Quotes,” Dr. Bigirimana explained that the selected quotes encapsulate the essence of all his works. He expressed his passion for knowledge, commitment to truth, and desire to contribute positively to society through his writing.
During the book launch, Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija praised Dr. Bigirimana for addressing important issues such as corruption in his writings. He acknowledged the depth, diversity, and dedication to truth evident in Dr. Bigirimana’s books, which cover a wide range of topics relevant to Ugandan society.
Judge Zeija encouraged Ugandan writers to be quoted in public speeches, emphasizing the value of local voices and perspectives in shaping national dialogue. He also highlighted the role of local writers in preserving cultural heritage and contributing to a balanced global dialogue.
In reference to the controversial sex book, Judge Zeija commended Dr. Bigirimana for his courage in tackling such a sensitive topic, expressing his own inspiration to embark on writing. Ronald Nabimanya, who reviewed the book, praised Dr. Bigirimana not only as a brilliant writer but also as an exceptional human being.
