Kampala, Uganda — Equity Bank Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS as the country prepares for the 13th edition of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run 2026.
Speaking ahead of the run, the bank’s Executive Director, Claver Sserumaga, said the institution is honoured to join Buganda Kingdom in celebrating the 71st birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II through a cause aimed at improving public health.
This year’s run is held under the theme “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child,” which highlights the critical role men play in ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
Sserumaga emphasized that the theme aligns with Equity Bank’s broader mission of transforming lives and promoting sustainable development.
“We are proud to stand with Buganda Kingdom in this noble cause because, like the Kingdom, we envision a future free of HIV/AIDS by 2030,” he said.
As part of its contribution, Equity Bank has donated and purchased 140 kits to support participation in the run. Sserumaga also revealed his personal commitment to the cause, noting that he will take part in the 21-kilometre race.
“Together, let us run for health, for hope, and for a future free of HIV/AIDS,” he added.
The Kabaka’s Birthday Run has over the years become a key platform for mobilizing awareness and resources towards public health challenges, particularly the fight against HIV/AIDS.
This year’s event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across the country, including corporate organizations, cultural institutions, and members of the public, all united in the drive to end the epidemic.
