Spes Medical Centre Expands Community Health Access with Reproductive Health Camp Ahead of Women’s Day

Kampala, Uganda — Spes Medical Centre has intensified its community outreach efforts with the launch of a comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Camp at its Kitintale branch, aimed at expanding access to essential healthcare services ahead of International Women’s Day.

The one-day camp, scheduled for Saturday, 7th March 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will provide a range of free and subsidized medical services designed to promote preventive care and strengthen maternal health outcomes.

Services to be offered include free HIV testing and counseling, urinalysis tests, blood pressure screening, diabetes screening, and breast cancer screening. Ultrasound scans will also be available at subsidized rates.

The initiative builds on the Centre’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. On 7th February 2026, the Namugongo branch successfully conducted a Dental Health Camp, offering preventive dental screenings and oral health education. The outreach reinforced the Centre’s belief that prevention is both lifesaving and cost-saving.

At the upcoming Kitintale camp, special emphasis will be placed on supporting expectant mothers, promoting early child planning literacy, and providing guidance to couples experiencing fertility challenges.

Dr. Jawadu Niwamanya, Lead Doctor at the Kitintale branch, underscored the urgency of strengthening reproductive and maternal healthcare services.

“Reproductive health is foundational to family stability and national development. When maternal health services are accessible, we reduce preventable complications, maternal mortality, and newborn risks. Early screening, timely antenatal care, and informed family planning empower women and couples to make safe, confident decisions about their health. Improving maternal health outcomes is not only a medical priority but a community responsibility,” he said.

Uganda continues to face challenges related to maternal health, preventable infections, and limited access to reproductive health education, particularly in underserved communities. By offering free and subsidized services, Spes Medical Centre aims to bridge knowledge gaps, encourage early testing, and promote preventive care practices that can significantly reduce long-term health burdens.

Dr. Alice Hope Banga, Director of the Centre, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to community-focused healthcare delivery.

“Giving back to the community is part of our underlying objectives and is in line with Ministry of Health guidelines — a responsibility we take seriously,” she said.
“Healthcare costs continue to rise, but access must not shrink. Our goal is to ensure that even with increasing operational expenses, communities can still receive quality, dignified care at affordable rates. We are investing locally in infrastructure and skilled personnel so that Ugandans do not have to travel far or pay excessively for essential services.”

Established in 2022, Spes Medical Centre has positioned itself as a growing private healthcare provider committed to narrowing the healthcare access gap. Through community medical camps, structured service delivery, and technology-integrated care systems, the Centre continues to prioritize professional staffing, patient-centered care, and sustainable healthcare ownership models.

Dr. Banga urged members of the public to attend the Sexual and Reproductive Health Camp at the Kitintale branch and take advantage of the free and subsidized services available.
