Museveni Impressed as Hellen Seku Recruits 200,000 Uganda Patriotic Corps Members in Just 19 Months

Kampala, Uganda – Hellen Seku, a dynamic and youthful national leader, has made a significant impact on Uganda’s development agenda. As the Commissioner for the National Secretariat for Patriotism Clubs (NSPC) in State House, she has been instrumental in deepening patriotism across schools, universities, and communities.

Since her appointment in January 2024, when President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni elevated her from Private Secretary for Youth Affairs Seku has successfully mobilized and organized 200,000 Ugandans into the Uganda Patriotic Corps. This milestone, achieved in just 19 months, reflects not only Seku’s leadership but also the administration’s commitment to youth engagement and national values.

“This achievement is a resounding victory for Uganda and for the President,” observers noted, highlighting the significance of Seku’s contribution. Notably, all recruits have been addressed by President Museveni, underscoring the program’s importance at the highest levels of government.

Seku’s leadership strategy is centered on community mobilization for peace, unity, and development. Under her guidance, the NSPC has held large-scale patriotism guidance sessions, often attended by senior government officials. These sessions aim to instill a strong sense of national pride, responsibility, and civic duty, especially among the youth.

One of her most impactful strategies has been redirecting youth energy from political activism, particularly that linked to the opposition, towards constructive engagement in peacebuilding, wealth creation, and talent development. This redirection has not only supported national development goals but also helped to reduce the influence of divisive political ideologies among young people.

Looking ahead to the 2026 presidential campaign, Seku is expected to play a key role in grassroots mobilization for President Museveni. As part of the presidential advance teams, she will lead community-based activities including the distribution of patriotism-branded materials, such as T-shirts, reflector jackets, and posters, to boost visibility and engagement. Her well-known rally-driving skills are also expected to generate enthusiasm, especially among the youth.

However, Seku’s rise has not been without resistance. She has faced opposition from certain individuals within government who perceive her as a threat, particularly due to her incorruptible nature, work ethic, and strong stance against mediocrity and corruption. Despite this, Seku remains undeterred, continuing to lead by example and championing patriotism as a core national value.

Her achievements have earned high-level recognition. First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni has described her as a “strategic achiever”, praising her integrity, openness, and commitment to youth empowerment. Seku’s open-door policy and willingness to engage with the public have further solidified her image as a relatable and inspirational figure.

Hellen Seku’s accomplishments as Commissioner for the NSPC are a testament to her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to building a more patriotic and united Uganda. Her community-centered approach has proven effective in rallying support across diverse groups and creating lasting impact.

As Uganda continues its journey toward national transformation, Seku’s legacy is poised to inspire future generations. Her contributions to patriotism, peace, and youth engagement will undoubtedly continue to shape the country’s path toward a brighter and more unified future.
