Amolatar, Uganda – In a significant step toward fostering unity and peaceful elections, National Resistance Movement (NRM) party contestants in Amolatar District agreed to conduct joint campaigns during an engagement meeting held on Tuesday at Amolatar Town Council Hall. The meeting, chaired by NRM Administrative Secretary Pule Boniface, emphasized issue-based politics and condemned propaganda and blackmail.
Administrative secretary, Boniface Pule cautioned candidates against violation of guidelines and urged them to adhere to all rules and guidelines.
Col. Dr. John Francis Ongia, the Kioga County MP aspirant, urged electorates to embrace unity for the development of the district. “Our focus should be on working together for the betterment of Amolatar rather than engaging in divisive politics,” he said.
Felix Adupa Ongwech, another contestant, stressed the need for campaigns centered on ideology and agenda. “Politics should be about service delivery, not blackmail and propaganda. Let us compete based on our manifestos, not character assassination,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Morish Ogwal Omara, an LC5 chairperson aspirant, cautioned fellow contenders against propaganda, urging them to focus on constructive engagements.
James Olobo Dubai, a Kioga North MP , raised concerns over media blackmail, calling on security agencies to intervene against journalists who misuse their platforms to tarnish opponents’ reputations.
In response, Amolatar District Police Commander SP Mafabi assured candidates of the police’s commitment to cracking down on any form of electoral violence or irregularities. Additionally, the District Internal Security Officer warned candidates against hate speech, propaganda, and divisive politics, urging them to prioritize issue-based campaigns.
The security officer emphasized the importance of promoting development agendas rather than engaging in politics of lies and darkness. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to foster a peaceful electoral process in Amolatar.
The gathering was attended by all district councilors and MP aspirants, signaling a strong commitment to a harmonious and issue-driven campaign season.
