The competition for the speakership should not tear us apart, but should instead remain a healthy contest.
I have read the unfortunate outburst of Hon. Justine Namere against the Secretary General of PLU, Hon. Daudi Kabanda, whose “crime” was only to deliver a message from our supreme leader of PLU, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, regarding his position on the current speakership to PLU-leaning members.
I would like to advise my sister that she should leave Hon. Kabanda alone. He exercised his assigned duties. In case she feels he has wronged her, it is not yet too late, she can also pick interest and contest.
As Ugandans, we are not interested in whatever statements are being made against Hon. Daudi Kabanda or even the current Speaker. What we are interested in is a respected Parliament that is free from arrogance and corruption. Whatever you are saying about Hon. Kabanda, we are not interested.
It is high time for Uganda’s Parliament to regain its lost legacy, whereby when the House conducts its business, citizens outside the House pay attention, listening either through radios or watching on television.
So, Madam Namere, not every person with a bloated stomach needs to visit a pit latrine. It is high time Ugandans believed in Parliament’s business, loved it, and respected it.
I would like to advise our Secretary General of PLU, Hon. Daudi Kabanda, not to lose his appetite for food because of Hon. Namere’s outburst. Continue steering the league in its direction.
