Mr President, it would be wrong for the people of Serere, Kaberamaido and Amolatar, who now regularly use your ferry that connects Serere, Amolatar and Kaberamaido to Buyende, not to thank you.
It is only your government that has made it possible for the people of the above districts to enjoy such modern means of water transport. Initially, our people could only watch ferries in movies, while others got a chance to see them in Kalangala.
In fact, if I am not mistaken, there are some elders in Teso who have died before seeing or using this modern water transport. However, this is not your mistake; it should be attributed to the shortcomings of previous regimes that did not have the same vision.
No wonder these communities gave you overwhelming votes in the recently concluded elections. Although they were happy with other programs you initiated such as PDM, Emyooga, youth livelihoods, UWEP and regional industrial hubs, the introduction of this ferry added more weight to their support for NRM.
Honestly speaking, Mr President, before, it was very difficult to connect from Serere to Bukungu, Kidera and Kagulu Hills in Buyende District. Thank you for the sharp vision God has given you. I always see some opposition MPs trying to test your patience by interrupting your speeches, but at the end of the day, they still listen to you.
How I wish, Mr President, you would remember the fish packing factory you started in Kagwara, Serere District. Unfortunately, due to poor supervision, the project has dragged on for long, yet it would have created many jobs for your Bazukulu and improved our economy.
Nevertheless, Your Excellency, my prayer is that even though the project is not fully completed, we could start using it as it is, while we look for funds to complete and put it into full operation.
Apart from that, Mr President, there are only a few issues that people of Teso are crying out about. The issue of compensation is already being handled, thank you.
I know how you love Teso and understand the background of the Iteso; they are not people who love begging a lot. However, at the moment, Your Excellency, there is the issue of meat packers in Soroti. Mr President, I wish you could take this matter seriously and revive this industry. It would employ many Bazukulu and generate income for the community and the country at large. Since this term, you have termed it as “no jokes.”
There is also SAIMCO Ltd. This plant used to manufacture hand hoes, ploughs, axes, rakes, spades and many other items. It is also located in Soroti town. Mr President, this project was killed by a few short-sighted and greedy individuals who did not want NRM to be glorified. The machines were vandalised, although the building and other components are still there.
Long live President Museveni.
Long live Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
