Museveni Commends Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese for Socio-Economic Development Initiatives

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the government and Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese in addressing poverty through various socio-economic development programs. During a meeting with the Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, Rt. Rev. Joseph Anthony Zziwa, at State House, Entebbe, the President commended the diocese for its commitment to hard work and the implementation of projects aimed at poverty alleviation.

President Museveni advised the diocese to guide individuals in selecting suitable and profitable enterprises, emphasizing that not every enterprise is profitable. He acknowledged the importance of providing guidance to ensure that community members engage in ventures that are beneficial and economically viable.




The President expressed gratitude for the projects initiated by the diocese, such as coffee cultivation and dairy farming, that contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. He pledged continued support for Kiyinda-Mityana in their ongoing efforts to combat poverty.




In response, Bishop Zziwa conveyed greetings from the diocese to the President and thanked him for promoting mechanized farming, not only in Mityana but also in other parts of Uganda. He highlighted the diocese’s commitment to holistic development, integrating moral, social, religious, and economic aspects. The bishop emphasized that their efforts aim to create integral individuals who are morally, socially, religiously, and economically sound.




Bishop Zziwa informed the President about Kiyinda-Mityana’s initiatives, carried out through its social services and development arm, addressing socio-economic challenges in areas such as education, health, and economic growth. The diocese’s approach goes beyond spiritual teachings to include a focus on economic prosperity for the community.
