Mbale City, Uganda – The Umukuka III of the Bamasaaba people, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, will at an appropriate time talk to all learners across Masaaba land. This was revealed by Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, while visiting Nakaloke SSS this morning.

Nakaloke SSS is located within Mbale City, about 10 kilometers from Mbale City off the Kumi–Soroti Road.

According to the spokesperson of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, Mr. Steven Masiga, was making a routine visit to the school to spur learners on matters of culture and morality.

Masiga encouraged learners to be submissive to the Bamasaaba culture and said that with culture, one never goes astray.

Masiga also challenged parents on the practice of marrying off young girls in some Muslim families. He said that as a cultural institution, they are uncomfortable with such a decision, even if it was sanctioned by Islam. Islam encourages marrying off girls who are jumpy even if they are ten years old. He said that decision needs modification to allow girls to complete the education cycle.

Masiga discouraged learners from engaging in the following vices:

  • Criminality of all sorts
  • Smoking
  • Narcotic injections and smoking
  • Gangism
  • Late coming, among other vices

He also took a swipe at parents who neglect to provide scholastic needs. He said the law is tough on such parents, and the offences in Sections 200 and 201 onwards of the Penal Code are applicable to any parent who distances themselves from parental responsibility.

He said in the future, the cultural institution might consider giving virginity certificates to learners across Masaaba land for protecting their virginity up to university.

The Headmistress of Nakaloke SSS, Madam Nankya Masitula, thanked the cultural institution for the cultural talk in schools. She said this will help in shaping the morals of learners across Masaaba land.

On her part, the Headmistress also pledged 1 million shillings to any girl who keeps her virginity before marriage.

The students of Nakaloke SSS also petitioned the cultural institution to come up with an Ekisati, just like the Buganda Kingdom, to help in mentoring Bamasaaba children.

The East African Anthem, Ugandan Anthem, and the Bamasaaba Cultural Anthem were played in that order.

Masiga told learners that the Umukuka will, at an appropriate time, engage all learners from Masaaba land, and Nakaloke SSS should prepare for the National Youth Talk with His Highness the Umukuka of the Bamasaaba people, Jude Mike Mudoma, on a date to be communicated by the Office of the Spokesperson, where the Umukuka will talk to all learners in Masaaba land on various matters.
