It is not UPDF carrying out a search on former Speaker Anita Among’s home; it is the Police with the support of UPDF

I have read social media posts where some Ugandans claim that the UPDF is the one entering the homes of the former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, to conduct a search. This is not true.

I am not a spokesperson of either UPDF or the Police, but as a concerned Ugandan, I would like to categorically clarify that the anti-corruption operations taking place at the residence of the former Speaker of Parliament are being carried out by the Uganda Police Force, specifically the CID department, which is mandated to maintain law and order.

The presence of a few UPDF soldiers in the operation is only to provide backup assistance in case criminals attempt to overpower the ongoing exercise.

While the Police are conducting the search, UPDF soldiers remain outside and have not entered the house. They also do not know what is being recovered there. Therefore, Ugandans should avoid casting blame or accusations against our security forces.

The UPDF, under the command of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has become one of the most disciplined forces on the African continent, respected for upholding human rights and protecting all Ugandans.

I urge the public to keep the UPDF out of this operation and allow the Police to carry out their work independently. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is committed to helping clean up corruption in the country. Long live Afande Muhoozi, long live PLU, long live our President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
