Entebbe/Mukono — Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have arrested 38 suspected criminals in coordinated operations targeting crime-prone areas in Entebbe and Mukono districts.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the operations were aimed at dismantling criminal networks linked to robbery, burglary, and drug abuse in identified hotspot areas.
He said the first operation was conducted on May 19, 2026, in Entebbe Division, specifically in Bendegere, Kasenyi, and Nakiwogo, where police arrested 31 suspects during a night raid.
“The suspects were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and other exhibits. They are currently detained at Entebbe Police Station pending prosecution,” Owoyesigyire stated.
In a separate operation carried out on May 18, 2026, police also arrested seven suspects in Mukono District, particularly in Jojo, Sonde, and Misindye areas in Goma Division. Authorities described these locations as known criminal black spots.
The suspects from Mukono were detained at Goma Police Station under Mukono Central Police Station (CPS) as investigations continue.
Police said all suspects are being processed for prosecution as inquiries into their alleged involvement in criminal activities continue.
Owoyesigyire added that Kampala Metropolitan Police will continue with what he described as “disruptive operations” aimed at flushing out criminal elements and improving public safety and security across the region.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as the crackdown continues.
