Police in Kampala have arrested two suspects in connection with the recent break-in at the Bank of Uganda that occurred on 4th May 2026.
According to police, the arrests were made on 7th May following an intelligence-led operation conducted by security teams investigating the incident.
The suspects were identified as Kule Boaz Michael, 19, a resident of Wabigalo, and Kabuye Ramadhan, also known as Rhama, 19, a resident of Nsambya Zone C, both in Kampala City.
Police confirmed that the suspects are currently being held in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities also revealed that two laptops believed to have been stolen during the break-in were recovered during the operation.
In a statement, police said the suspects would be arraigned before court in due course to face charges related to the incident.
“We wish to confirm the arrest of two suspects linked to the break-in at the Bank of Uganda,” police stated.
The break-in at the country’s central bank had raised concern among members of the public and security agencies, prompting intensified investigations to track down those responsible.
Police have not yet disclosed whether more suspects are being pursued or the exact circumstances surrounding the break-in.
Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
