Monday, January 15, 2024

As the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 +China summits commence today and run through to January 23, 2024, Kampala City and the greater Kampala area are under tightened security, with visible and discreet security measures in place, according to Uganda Police.

The Entebbe Expressway, connecting the airport to Kampala, will be a focal point for activities, and traffic disruptions are expected, as outlined by Uganda Police spokesman Fred Enanga. The summit route, spanning from Entebbe International Airport through Kajjansi Interchange to Speke Resort Munyonyo, will undergo strict regulation with planned diversions and traffic control measures.

Enanga emphasized that traffic police will manage traffic flow at road junctions, access roads, and diversions according to the movement of delegates. Motorists are urged to adhere to traffic police directives, with motorcycles not permitted along the summit route.
