FUFA Future in Question as Rumors Swirl Around Magogo’s Leadership

KAMPALA, Uganda — Fresh speculation surrounding the leadership of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken over social media, following claims by investigative journalist Tabz that a major shakeup could be looking at the country’s football governing body.

In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, Tabz suggested that FUFA President Moses Magogo, his deputy Ogwang, and the entire FUFA executive had not yet received summons from what he described only as “a certain agency” to record statements, fueling rumors of an ongoing investigation behind the scenes.

“We might see a new administration at FUFA soon! Maybe way before AFCON!” Tabz posted, a statement that quickly ignited intense debate among football fans online.

The rumors gained even more attention after activist Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye alleged that Magogo had fled the country amid fears of a corruption probe. However, no evidence has been provided to support the claims, and no official government agency has publicly confirmed any investigation involving FUFA leaders.

Despite the growing speculation, Magogo has not issued any formal statement responding to the claims, although his social media accounts remain active. FUFA itself has also stayed silent, leaving many uncertain about what could happen next as Uganda prepares for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament preparations.

Online, reactions have been mixed. Some Ugandans welcomed the rumors, saying they are frustrated by recurring scandals in local football, including delayed player bonuses, allegations of poor accountability, and controversial deals within the federation. Others cautioned against spreading unverified information, warning that speculation could damage the image of Ugandan football.

The uncertainty now places FUFA under growing public scrutiny, with many football lovers waiting to see whether authorities or federation officials will address the claims in the coming days.
