As Uganda edges closer to the 2026 general elections, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flagbearer contender, Dan Matsiko Malcom, is making waves with his bold, people-first proposals that continue to attract massive grassroots support.
Currently serving as the FDC Party Envoy, Matsiko has emerged as a key voice within the opposition, promising a transformative agenda aimed at restoring dignity and equity to all Ugandans. His candidacy is anchored on a radical yet practical policy platform targeting social welfare, employment, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
Speaking at a recent public rally, Matsiko laid out his ambitious vision should he ascend to the presidency in 2026. Below are some of the cornerstone policies Ugandans can expect under his leadership:
1. Free Utilities for Citizens
Matsiko pledges to provide free water and electricity to all Ugandans—excluding commercial and industrial users. “Rivers are God-given,” he said. “Why should Ugandans continue to be exploited for what is naturally theirs?”
2. Infrastructure-Led Job Creation
With thousands of engineers and skilled workers currently unemployed, Matsiko proposes a rapid national infrastructure uplift that will not only modernize the country but create thousands of jobs in the process.
3. Guaranteed Employment for Teachers
In a bold promise to the education sector, all qualified teachers—from primary school level up to university professors—will be automatically absorbed into government service and given a decent, stable salary.
4. Healthcare Workers to Become State Employees
All medical professionals, upon completing their studies, will be formally declared state employees and deployed across Uganda’s health system with fair compensation. “Healthcare is not a luxury. It’s a right,” Matsiko emphasized.
5. Electricity for All
In a bid to achieve full national electrification, Matsiko plans to declare all electrical engineering professionals as state workers, tasked with extending the power grid to every household, with oversight from 24/7 state-appointed inspectors.
6. A Minimum Wage for All Workers
Another major reform under his leadership will be the introduction of a national minimum wage, ensuring that no Ugandan worker is underpaid or exploited.
7. Revival of Agricultural Training Centers
Matsiko vows to revamp government farm schools and demonstration centers in every sub-region. He promises to direct the lion’s share of the national budget to commercial and industrial agriculture between 2026–2031.
8. Mandatory Tree Planting to Combat Climate Change
Environmental protection is also high on Matsiko’s agenda. He proposes mandatory nationwide tree planting every Saturday, especially in areas with depleted vegetation, to combat deforestation and climate change.
“We must stop global warming. We must restore our wetlands, forests, and rivers. Uganda must lead in the fight against climate disaster,” he declared.
A Call to Action
Matsiko ended his address with a passionate appeal to voters:
“The list is long, dear Ugandans. But our vision is clear. Support and vote for Dan Matsiko for President in 2026. A new Uganda is possible.”
